Klecker tallies first career save

FORT WORTH– TCU evened the series with a 4-2 win over Texas Tech Saturday afternoon at Lupton Stadium. The Horned Frogs scored three unanswered runs and the bullpen tossed 3 2/3 scoreless innings to secure the win. Kole Klecker struck out all three batters he faced to secure his first career save.

The Rundown
TCU jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first. Chase Brunson led off the inning with a base hit. He scored on a two-out single off the bat of Kurtis Byrne.

Texas Tech responded with two in the second on a one-out double to take a 2-1 lead. Louis Rodriguez retired the next two to keep it a one-run deficit.

The Horned Frogs tied the game in the third. Sam Myers reached on a lead-off bunt single and stole second. A two-out triple to deep center off the bat of Logan Maxwell made it a 2-2 ballgame.

TCU regained the lead for good in the sixth. Byrne doubled and scored on a Luke Boyers two-out single. The Frogs picked up an insurance run in the eighth as Anthony Silva scored on a Peyton Chatagnier suicide squeeze.

Rodriguez was outstanding in his 5 1/3 innings. He allowed just two runs on four hits, walked two and struck out four. After the run-scoring double, he retired 11 of the last 14 batters he faced. Ben Abeldt (2-0) earned the win in relief. He allowed four hits in 2 2/3 innings, walking one and striking out three.

Kole Klecker came on with the tying runs aboard in the ninth and struck out all three batters he faced to pick up his first career save.
