Students can't buy a ticket to WE Day—they earn their way bytaking action on one local and one global cause that they arepassionate about. WE Day is a celebration of these year-round actsof service. The event is free of charge to students and teachersacross the U.S. thanks to the generous support of partners, led byCo-Title Sponsors The AllstateFoundation,UnileverandWalgreens. This academic year, WE joins forces with UNAIDS, UN GlobalCompact, and UN Women to incorporate the Sustainable DevelopmentGoals (SDGs)into more than 20,000 schools across the United States, United Kingdom and Canada, promoting Goal #4 (Quality Education)through WE Schools,WE's service learning program. As the UNGeneral Assembly brings together 195 countries to debate pressingworld issues, WE Day UN will motivate the next generation of globalleaders to achieve the SDGs including eliminating poverty,promoting gender equality, ensuring access to clean water andending hunger. Together WE and the UN agencies believe that youngpeople are powerful active agents for change.

More than a one-day event, WE Day is connected to the free,yearlong service learning program WE Schools. Designed to enhance aschool or community's existing social initiatives or spark newones, WE Schools provides teachers with educational resources andaction campaigns to encourage students to further their curricularlearning and develop social and emotional skills to succeed beyondthe classroom. In the 2018/2019 school year, over 960 school groupsfrom the Tri-State area participated in WE Schools, creatingsocially innovative solutions to today's pressing issues and takingaction in support of global and local causes including hunger,poverty, bullying, well-being, access to education and access toclean water in communities across the globe.

The WE Day inspiration continues beyond the live event throughWE Day Connect, a free 90-minute interactive online event takingplace on October 8, 2019.
