opbellen = to phone (informal)
spreken = to speak
inspreken = to leave a message on an answering machine
delen = to share
verdelen = to divide
aanraden = to recommend
aanbevelen = to recommend (formal)

@Elske Opbellen is actually technically incorrect. It's a combination of the words "oproepen" and "bellen", although it's used frequently.

I know 'optelefoneren' is a contamination.
Here is 'opbellen':

'Opbellen' may have been a wrong combination originally. But it looks like these days it is fully accepted.

@Elske I'm against accepting wrong use of language if it exists for long enough, but alright then. You're right.

Yes, things are happening to our language, and I don't like it either. However, language itself is only a conmmunication tool that belongs to the people. If enough people from non-Dutch backgrounds stop using 'het', in a hundred years there will be nothing left but 'de'. And if we are flooded with East-Europeans, we will lose our 'de' as well. But should that happen, we'll probably acquire some other interesting words.
But I share your feelings. 🙂
