The Oklahoma high school baseball season kicks off on Feb. 20th for A-B, and March 1st for 2A-6A. Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2023 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, leading into a countdown through the official PBR Oklahoma Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

We’ve submitted a Preseason Questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided as well as our own coverage on players in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

PBR OK OSSAA Team Previews: Roff Tigers (1)

Team: Roff Tigers
2022 Record:29-3
Classification: Class B
Head Coach:Danny Baldridge

OUTLOOK

The sport of baseball has always had deep ties in the Roff community and the Tigers will look to try and repeat as spring State Champions again in 2023. The Tiger seniors do have some unfinished business after dropping their Fall State Championship game to Fort Cobb Broxton after surrendering an early lead and the comeback ran out of time. The good news for Coach Baldridge is he has a deep roster of talented players that have shown the ability to win at a high level. Their lineup can beat you in multiple ways with several impact bats that have a ton of experience in the box. They have a frontline arm that gives them a chance against anyone in the state and multiple other guys that have given them big innings in the past. Roff's ability to turnout prospects year in and year out has been impressive with their grades 1-12 enrollment totaling in the mid 200's and are talented enough to beat anyone in the State on a given day.

IMPACT PLAYERS

Cade Baldridge, MIF, 2023, Cowley County commit

Baldridge returns to the lineup as the most accomplished hitter on the Tiger roster. The switch hitter has lightning quick hands and strong bat speed that he uses from both sides of the plate and does an excellent job of utilizing the lower half to generate power. The ball jumps off Baldridge's barrel with present power and should be a main source of the run-production at the top of the lineup. Defensively he has an understanding of routes working around the ball and soft hands that allow him to make plays look easy. The Cowley commit is one of the top hitters in the class and with his experience and talent should be one for opposing staffs to tread carefully with.

Tallen Bagwell, RHP/OF, 2023, Cowley County commit

Bagwell returns to the starting rotation as one of the more projectable arms in Oklahoma. Standing at 6-foot-5 and a lean 190-pounds, Bagwell has a loose arm action that has shown the ability to work the fastball in the upper 80's. Bagwell shows feel for a sweeping breaking ball and a fading changeup to give a true 3-pitch mix and starter's profile. With his hand speed and long limbs, it wouldn't be shocking to see his velocity continue to make big jumps and should be one to keep an eye on over the next couple of years.

2023 @tallenbagwell (@EOSC_Baseball commit) has settled in nicely for Roff. Sitting 85-87 and spinning a CB at 70-73. Long frame and lose arm promises much more velo to come. pic.twitter.com/yINjcFlBNF

Brand Wilson, C/UTL/RHP, 2023, Connors State JC commit

Wilson returns to the lineup as a physical presence in the middle of the order. Brand shows some strength at contact with some pull-side power using his strong rotational swing. Behind the plate Wilson shows some arm strength with throws having strong carry to the bag. With strong table-setters ahead of him in the lineup, look for Wilson to be relied upon to drive in runs as well as anchor the defense from behind the plate as the Tigers look to repeat their success from 2022.

2023 C/RHP @brandwilson2 (Roff) showed some pull side pop at the OK Fall Prospect games with some leverage in the swing to go along with pop times as low as 2.01. Physical frame with projectable strength. pic.twitter.com/S50WBGQdAe
