The Oklahoma high school baseball season kicks off on Feb. 20th for A-B, and March 1st for 2A-6A. Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2023 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, leading into a countdown through the official PBR Oklahoma Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

We’ve submitted a Preseason Questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided as well as our own coverage on players in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

PBR OK OSSAA Team Previews: Silo Rebels (1)

Team: Silo Rebels
2022 Record:30-0
Classification: 2A
Head Coach:Billy Bowen

OUTLOOK

Coach Bowen and the Rebels have dominated the 2A slate over the past couple of years and none more than last year where they went 30-0 and captured the State Title. They do have some unfinished business to take care of in 2023 after dropping the Fall Class A State Championship to Dale in a game that got away from the Rebels early. Having only dropped two contests in the last calendar year, even with the loss back in October the Rebels are the front-runners to run it back in 2023. They have a dynamic lineup that can play up to any team at any level in the state. They have multiple guys that have been multiple year starters and will rely on their experience both in the box and their know-how to win at a high level. The have a couple of different options on the mound that have the type of stuff to take over games giving them one of the more complete rosters in the State. While they didn't take home the fall Title, the 2A class still has to run through Silo and they should be considered the early season favorites.

IMPACT PLAYERS

Kyler Proctor, INF/RHP, 2023, OSU commit

Proctor is one of the most feared bats in the State with explosive bat speed and hand strength from the right side. Proctor has big power even from his smaller frame and the ball jumps off the bat with ease. He has been a mainstay in the middle of the order for the past couple years picking up a ton of at bats along the way and shows a very solid approach. Defensively he is capable of making the tough plays look easy with smooth range and footwork and a big arm allowing him to work deep in the hole. Proctor also works on the mound for the Rebels where he works the fastball in the low 90's and feel for a breaking ball that can rack up swings and misses. Proctor has the ability to take over games both at the plate and on the mound and should be one for opposing teams to tread lightly on.

2023 SS ⁦@kyler_proctor⁩ (⁦@RebelsSilo⁩ and ⁦@OSUBaseball⁩ commit) keeps the hands back on a breaking and drives a 2 RBI base hit to keep the Rebels alive here in the 6th. Some of the top bat speed in OK with extremely quick hands thru the zone pic.twitter.com/Mh1qYTL2eY

Easton Ford, 1B/RHP, 2023, Redlands CC commit

Ford seemingly always comes up clutch when we see the Rebels play as one of the run-producing forces in the middle of the lineup. Ford has some strength at contact with the ability to shoot balls into both gaps for extra base power and shows strong barrel control. Ford also works on the mound for the Rebels to help stretch the staff even deeper. For the Rebels to return back to winning the State Championship, they will rely heavily on Ford's physical presence in the box as well as continue to pick up key hits and key spots along the way.

2023 1B ⁦@EastonFord6⁩ (⁦@RebelsSilo⁩) always seems to get it done in the postseason with the bat picking up his second hit of the game with a 2 RBI 2B to cut into the lead and make it 10-3 in the bottom of the third pic.twitter.com/fJgQWBbuXU
